FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The path to a new business venture for a pair of Wrentham neighbors began with a simple conversation last November about a fitness studio at Patriot Place. Molly McKnight, working as a part-time instructor at Pure Barre, told her friend, Amanda French-Greenwood, about the studio and invited her to attend a class.

“When Molly first asked me to take a Pure Barre class, I was a little bit intimated by it,” said French-Greenwood, 35. “But from the minute I walked into the studio I became hooked.”

French-Greenwood’s passion for Pure Barre - a total body workout that utilizes the ballet barre to perform small, isometric movements to burn fat and sculpt muscles – grew so much in the six months following her first class that she and McKnight are now the co-owners of the Patriot Place studio.

"We both saw a lot of untapped opportunity for Pure Barre Patriot Place,” said French-Greenwood. “We are both very driven and determined and felt motivated by the challenge of taking Pure Barre Patriot Place to the next level. Overall, our skill sets weren't being utilized in our previous careers, but at Pure Barre, we feel right at home."

McKnight, 29, discovered Pure Barre in her home state of Indiana and fell in love.

“Pure Barre is not only an amazing workout, but the community of Pure Barre is so empowering to be a part of,” said McKnight. “That’s what you can expect when taking a class from any one of our instructors. They will have you feeling strong, empowered and wanting to come back for more.”

She found out about the Patriot Place studio after moving to Wrentham and has been an instructor at the Foxborough location for almost a year. She is also a surgical assistant for an oral surgeon in Franklin.

On Saturday, May 12, French-Greenwood and McKnight celebrated their new partnership with the grand reopening of Pure Barre at Patriot Place. The event featured a ribbon cutting ceremony, appearances by Pat Patriot and Patriots cheerleaders and a merchandise sale of clothes and products from a number of athletic brands.

Each Pure Barre class is 55 minutes and begins with a warm-up in the center of the room, on the floor, and then standing with light weights to work your arm muscles before moving to the barre to work your thighs and your seat. You’ll then do a series of ab exercises followed by a cool down. Results are achieved through Pure Barre’s proprietary technique of using precise, focused movements to work each major muscle group – including arms, thighs, seat and abdominals – to the point of fatigue and then stretch the muscles back out to create a strong, lean and toned physique. The music and exercises always change so you will never take the same class twice.

“Health is wealth,” said French-Greenwood. “Pure Barre is for everyone and it’s important to allow yourself to be a beginner. Fitness can be difficult on your body and that’s what we’re trying to avoid here. We’re trying to stay strong and healthy with the least amount of damage to our body while making sure you feel welcomed and comfortable in class.”

With more than 375 studios across the country, Pure Barre is the largest, most established barre franchise in the nation. For more information about Pure Barre at Patriot Place, including pricing and class schedule, visit http://www.patriot-place.com/pure-barre.
